THE PROCESS

How it works: from first call to resolution

Dealing with a solar company can feel like shouting into a void. Our process is the opposite: clear steps, honest expectations, and regular updates. Here's what to expect.

  1. Step 1: Intake and free case review

    What happens
You tell us what’s going on through the form, a call, or a text. A member of our team asks a few questions about your agreement, your bills, and what you were told.
    What you do
Share what you have. A contract is helpful but not required to start.
    Typical timing
We aim to reply within one business day.
  2. Step 2: Agreement review

    What happens
We go through your agreement, disclosures, utility bills, and production data. We note anything that doesn’t match what you were told, any missing documents, and important deadlines.
    What you do
Send any documents we request. If you can’t find your contract, we’ll help you figure out how to request a copy.
    Typical timing
Usually several business days after we have your documents, depending on volume and complexity.
  3. Step 3: Strategy

    What happens
We walk you through what we found and the options that may be available. Sometimes the right move is a simple request to the company. Sometimes it’s a formal process. Sometimes, honestly, there isn’t a realistic path, and we’ll tell you that.
    What you do
Ask questions and decide whether to move forward. If you do, we’ll explain the cost in writing in our Client Service Agreement before you sign, and you’ll have three business days after signing to cancel for a full refund.
    Typical timing
One conversation, at your pace. There’s no deadline from us.
  4. Step 4: Formal demand and negotiation

    What happens
When a case calls for it, independent, licensed counsel that you choose to retain sends a formal demand to the solar company, installer, or lender, explaining the problems and the resolution being requested. We support counsel with your organized case file. Many disputes are resolved through negotiation at this stage.
    What you do
Keep making your payments, keep records of any contact from the companies involved, and let us know right away if they reach out to you.
    Typical timing
Companies often take several weeks to respond. Negotiation can take a few months.
  5. Step 5: Arbitration, if needed

    What happens
If your agreement requires arbitration and negotiation doesn’t resolve the dispute, your independent counsel can file a case with the arbitration provider named in your agreement. A neutral arbitrator reviews the evidence and makes a decision. Hearings are often by video or phone.
    What you do
Review and confirm facts, provide any additional documents, and attend a hearing if one is scheduled.
    Typical timing
Arbitration commonly takes several months to a year or more, depending on the provider and the case.
  6. Step 6: Resolution

    What happens
A case can end in several ways, including cancellation of the agreement and removal of the system, a reduced buyout, a refund or credit, a corrected payment, repairs, or another negotiated outcome. Some cases do not end in the result the homeowner hoped for.
    What you do
Review any proposed resolution carefully with your independent counsel before agreeing to it.
    Typical timing
    Varies by case.

Timeframes are typical ranges, not promises. Every case depends on the agreement, the companies involved, and how they respond.

Questions about the process

How long does it take?

It depends on your agreement, the companies involved, and how they respond. Our initial review usually takes several business days once we have your documents. Negotiation after a formal demand often takes a few months. If a case goes to arbitration, it can take several months to a year or more. We'll give you a realistic estimate for your situation and keep you updated.

Do I have to go to court?

In most cases, no. Most solar agreements require disputes to go to arbitration, which is private and often handled by video, phone, or written submissions. Many cases resolve through negotiation before arbitration is even needed. If your agreement has different terms, we'll explain what they mean for you.

Who handles my arbitration?

Your case in arbitration is presented by independent, licensed counsel that you choose to retain. Solar Resolution Group supports that counsel by organizing your documents, building your timeline, and keeping you informed. You always decide whether to move forward.

What does it cost?

The case review is free, with no obligation. If you decide to move forward, the cost is a one-time service fee that we disclose in writing in our Client Service Agreement before you sign. You'll know the exact amount and what it covers up front. After you sign, you have three business days to cancel for a full refund. We'll also explain how any fees for independent counsel are handled in your situation.
